Welcome to My Blog

My husband and I originally developed this blog to keep family and friends updated on our current status, when Travis had lost his job. Now that he has been re-hired by the same company, we don't really have much to report with regard to that issue.

So, though we had thought we were going to be embarking on a new adventure, it turns out that we will be continuing on the same adventure for the time being.

That means we will not be using this blog solely for the purpose of updating y'all on what we'll be doing or where we'll be doing it, so I (Kathy) have decided to re-vamp this blog into something different.

Hope you enjoy the ride!

Many Weeks Later

So the hubby and I started doing the Whole30 program, and we followed it very closely for a couple of weeks. In late March, I had to go to Florida for training with my host travel agency, TPI (in Maitland). It was nigh on impossible to maintain the food standards we had at home while traveling. For one thing, TPI provided our breakfasts and lunches, so I had no control over what was in the food. I did make some good choices, but I also made some questionable ones... LOL And the hotel had an Irish Pub (and I was there over St Patrick's Day weekend), so...

Got home at the end of March, and did okay for the next couple of weeks (foodwise, I'm still not exercising regularly...boo!) until I headed to Las Vegas for the Home Based Travel Agent Forum at The Paris hotel on the strip. I have to say that I really wasn't trying very hard to be good about what I was eating, but I didn't do as badly as I might have before we started trying to eat better.

At home we eat almost no bread or grains, practically no sugar or artificial sweeteners or dairy, no processed foods or soy, and no legumes. But we do eat lots of grass and "whole" foods that don't have additives or "bad" oils. We make all of our own condiments (which is really much more simple than I imagined) and spend lots of money of less-processed food and products from grass-fed, free-roaming animals. Hubby has (of course) lost more weight than I have, but for me the bigger issue is that my body feels better without all that stuff. When I get the meal planning down and get back into the regular-exercise mode, things should be much better.

After all, I need to be able to walk 10 miles in about a month from now for our trip to Oregon. I need to get a move-on!
